SUPPORTING TWO GREAT YORKSHIRE CHARITIES
It is a delight and honour to have been given the opportunity to assist and support two wonderful charities that are particularly close to my heart. Both Ryedale Special Families and Yorkshire Air Ambulance are both Yorkshire based charities with which I have a close personal connection and involvement.
I feel privileged to have been asked to be both a patron and ambassador for these most deserving of causes and am committed to helping raise valuable funds to support the dedicated work they undertake across our region.
PATRON TO RYEDALE SPECIAL FAMILIES
In an exciting development for Malton based charity Ryedale Special Families, Amanda Owen, the Yorkshire Shepherdess, has recently agreed to become their Patron. The appointment comes at a particularly exciting time for the charity as plans to build their own purpose-built centre in Pickering are set to move a step forward this autumn when it is hoped that the first stage of the build programme will commence.
Commenting on the appointment, Lisa Keenan, Chief Officer of Ryedale Special Families said: “Amanda has been supportive of our charity for a few years now through various fundraising events and we’re absolutely delighted that she has agreed to become our Patron. We’re sure that her boundless energy, ever-increasing profile and enthusiasm to help us, will be of huge benefit to us over the months and years ahead.”
Amanda Owen said: “I would like to thank Ryedale Special Families for inviting me to be a patron of their wonderful charity. I am both excited and hopeful at being given an opportunity to play a part in helping raise their profile and in turn be able to raise valuable funds towards their new building project.”

AMBASSADOR TO YORKSHIRE AIR AMBULANCE
Amanda has always been a supporter of the work of the YAA, given the remote area they live in and nature of the work the Charity undertake, however it was an introduction through Harrogate based artist Anita Bowerman that brought Amanda and the Charity closer together.
Amanda explains “I was contacted by Anita last year to ask if I’d be happy to collaborate with her and the YAA by painting me and my sheep as a scene for one of the YAA’s Christmas cards. Obviously it was a real honour for me to accept, and the card went onto be the Charity’s bestselling Christmas card ever! I hear they were sending them out all around the world, and as far away as Canada!
We have then kept in contact since and when I was asked to be an Ambassador I was absolutely delighted – I genuinely couldn’t think of a better organisation to be involved with. I was very emotional when they first asked me.”
Anita Bowerman has been an artist for more than 20 years and formerly worked as a buyer at Liberty London, the world-famous Regent Street store. She paints around the picturesque Yorkshire countryside and in her beautiful Victorian art studio. Located in the centre of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, the Dove Tree Art Gallery & Studio displays Anita’s artwork and hosts her art classes.
